We founded Soft Touch Interiors in 1980. We’ve worked for department stores, (Macys, Bloomingdales’s, A&S, etc.,) and numerous designers. None of the aforementioned were more consequential than my era with“Shore Decorators” of Point Pleasant Beach on Route 35 across the street from Hoffmans. Shore Decorators was owned and operated by Irene Basset; I was Irene’s right arm for over 30 years. To kick off our working relationship, we ran an inaugural Summer solid special and our clients loved it.

I enjoyed the serenity of The Jersey Shore, its people, its lifestyle and its homes. I even loved the simplicity of my time on the road from Staten Island to New Jersey; this reverse commute became my drive to decompress.

Some summer days, my design team, (my wife and daughter) would accompany me. After our workday, we’d head off to the Warfside to catch Kirk and The Jerks and top off the evenings with some scoops at Hoffman’s. It was a simpler time and lots of fun.

Business opportunities took us south for the past few years, but we always knew we’d come back. I was inspired to celebrate our New Jersey return, by revisiting that inaugural Summer Solid Special. This nod to simpler times, and my era with Irene, is an effortless way for Soft Touch Interiors to brighten, invigorate and liven up your living spaces. The simplicity of life is cyclical; a solid is always a solid choice.
